Why Flinders University?

Flinders University was established in 1966 and named after British navigator Matthew Flinders. Located in Adelaide, South Australia, it occupies a scenic hillside campus overlooking the coast at Bedford Park, with additional campuses in Tonsley (engineering/IT innovation hub) and Victoria Square in the CBD.

Three reasons international students choose Flinders:

  1. Regional migration advantage — Adelaide is classified as a Category 2 regional city, meaning graduates may receive an additional 1–2 years on their 485 Post-Study Work visa beyond the standard entitlement. This is a significant pathway advantage for students considering long-term Australian residency.

  2. Strong in health sciences — Flinders Medical Centre is co-located with the university campus and is one of Adelaide’s two major teaching hospitals, providing direct clinical placement access for nursing, medicine, and allied health students.

  3. Engineering at Tonsley — Flinders’ Tonsley campus is a dedicated innovation precinct with deep industry ties, particularly in defence, maritime engineering, and renewable energy.
