The University of Western Australia (UWA, 西澳大学) gives a 10% discount on tuition fees through its UWA International Student Award to international students from 27 countries, including India, China and Kenya, for courses commencing in 2027. The 27 eligible countries are: Argentina, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Kenya, Maldives, Mexico, Nepal, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Sri Lanka, Uruguay and Venezuela.
For readers in India, South Asia (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka) and Kenya, this award is open to you by citizenship. The terms list "China" — whether passports from Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan qualify is not stated in the terms, so confirm with UWA directly.

The award excludes:

- Doctor of Dental Medicine 91860
- Doctor of Optometry 91590
- Juris Doctor 20820
- Undergraduate offers that include an assured pathway to Doctor of Medicine / Doctor of Dental Medicine
How much and for how long
The value is a 10% discount on tuition fees, applied for the standard full-time duration of the course you are accepted into. How that duration works:
- Undergraduate with an assured pathway to postgraduate: the award covers the undergraduate part only.
- Combined bachelor + master: the whole combined course is covered.
- Approved reduced load: extended up to 2 extra semesters.
- Course transfer: the shorter of the original or new duration.
- End-on Honours added: covered.
The terms do not fix a set number of years such as "3 for bachelor, 2 for master." The length follows the standard full-time duration of your specific course.
How you are selected
Selection is based on academic achievement, measured by an equivalent ATAR or WAM as UWA determines (predicted ATAR only in exceptional cases). The number of awards each year is set by UWA Admissions.
Accepting the offer
If the award is granted, you must accept within 30 days of the offer.
Keeping the award
To continue receiving it each semester you must:
- Meet the enrolment eligibility.
- Make satisfactory progress.
- Maintain a WAM of 60.
- Confirm your eligibility twice a year.
Suspension is only possible after the first result release, for a maximum of 2 semesters, and requires committee approval.
Can it be combined with other scholarships?
Generally no. The award cannot be held together with another UWA tuition fee reduction or academic scholarship — with one exception: the UWA English Language Award.
If you are also eligible for the UWA Global Excellence Scholarship, an ASEAN scholarship, or another UWA award, UWA awards the higher-value one rather than letting you stack them.

Because only the higher-value award is paid, check which one applies to your course and citizenship before you rely on a specific amount.
